Pharmacy Systems “Deep Roots” Icon and Label Printer Setup Instructions

 

***Note – The following applies to Windows XP and Windows 2000 PCs.

 

  1. “Deep Roots” Icon setup

 

    1. From the Desktop (main Windows screen), right-click where there is no icon.  From the drop-down menu, select “New”, “Shortcut”

 

 

    1. A new window appears named “Create Shortcut”  Click the “Browse” button.

 

 

    1. A new window appears named “Browse for Folder”.  Expand “My Computer”, then expand the “C:” icon, “Program Files” folder, “Internet Explorer” folder, and highlight the “blue E” “iexplore” icon.

***** NOTE:  On 64-bit machines (ie: Windows 7, etc.), use the “Program Files (x86)” folder (32-bit), instead of the “Program Files” folder.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.      Click “OK”.  You will return to the “Create Shortcut” window, and it will have the “path” to the Internet Explorer application next to the “Browse” button.

 

 

5.      Now you must type in the address to the pharmacy application.  Place your cursor at the end of the text in the box that has the “path” to the Internet Explorer application (past the double-quote), type in a space, then type (For IE Version 8 only: -nomerge, then a space, then…)  https://www.rxsystem.com/pharmacy.  After you are done, the entire contents of that box should be the following:

 

"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" https://www.rxsystem.com/pharmacy

**For IE Version 8 the contents should be: "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" –nomerge  https://www.rxsystem.com/pharmacy

 

      Click “Next”.

 

6.      A window titled “Select a Title for the Program” appears.  Under “Type a name for this shortcut”, type “Pharmacy Systems” and click “Finish”.

 

 

7.      You will now see a new icon on your Desktop named “Pharmacy Systems”.

 

B.     “Label” printer setup

 

1.      Go to the “Printers” or “Printers and Faxes” window.

 

 

2.      Double-click “Add Printer”.  The “Add Printer Wizard” will come up.  Click “Next” to start.  At the “Local or Network Printer” window, select “Local printer attached to this computer”, make sure “Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer” is UNCHECKED, and click “Next”.

 

 

3.      This step depends on how the PC is connected to the printer.

 

A. If the printer is “physically attached” via a parallel or USB cable, select the corresponding port from the “Use following port” drop-down list, and click “Next”

 

 

 

 

 

B. If the printer is connect via a network share connection, select “Create a new port”, select “Local Port” from the drop-down list, and click “Next”.

 

 

A new window named “Port Name” appears.  Type in two backslashes (\\), the name of the computer that is sharing the printer, one backslash, and the share name of the printer.  For example, if the name of the computer sharing the printer is named “Computer1”, and the name of the printer share is “Printer1”, you would type in the following:

 

\\Computer1\Printer1

                 

                  Click “Next”.

 

                 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4.      At the “Install Printer Software” window, select the “Manufacturer” and “Printer” of your printer , then click “Next”.

 

 

5.      At the “Name Your Printer” window, type “Label” under “Printer name”, select “No” under “Do you want to use this printer as the default printer?”, and click “Next”.

 

 

 

 

6.      If prompted to share the printer, make sure “Do not share this printer” is selected, and click “Next”.

 

7.      Answer the prompts at the “Print Test Page” window in a way that suits you, and click “Next”.

 

8.      Click “Finish” to finish setting up the printer.

 

9.      You may need to tell the newly created Label printer to print to the tray that has the labels.  Each printer does this differently
